We humans love tools. We have tools for just about everything. We have tools for building things, getting around town, keeping our bodies healthy, communicating with each other, and so on. But what if there were a tool for making our dreams come true? Some people believe that there is such a tool. And it’s called a vision board.
A vision board is a collection of images and pictures that represent your hopes, dreams, and desires. You then arrange those images any way you want on a poster board. And that board is put in a place where you can see it frequently. The idea is that if you surround yourself with images of what you want to become, or what you want to have, you are much more likely to achieve your dreams. In this way, a vision board is like a picture of your future life.
How does it work? Well, it is said that images speak louder than words. In this way, the vision board speaks to you on an emotional level, and reminds you on a daily basis of what kind of future you want to have. So, when you carry those images around in your mind, they help to guide you when you make decisions and take actions. Remember, your future is partially the result of all the actions that you take now, in the present.
So how do you make a vision board? Well, in the past people used to cut out photos from magazines and paste them onto a poster board using scissors and glue. Nowadays, you can make digital vision boards using images found on the internet.
Vision boards can also be theme-based. For example, you could build a vision board related to your English learning. It could contain images of how your life would be different if you could speak English fluently. You might have images of an international job, or friends from different countries, or maybe you see yourself traveling in far away places. Whatever it is, if you use the vision board to remember your dreams and focus on them, you can stay connected to the kind of future you want to have.
Remember though, vision boards are not magical. They only help you focus your energy on your future, but your dreams will not come true without hard work and passion. You are the one that has do the work, not the vision board.
