It’s dinner time on a hot summer day. And you have a choice of bottled or tap water to go with your meal. Which do you choose? Well, if you’re like most people in the developed world, you’ll go for the bottled water. After all, it seems safer, cleaner, and it costs money, so it must be better, right? Well, not necessarily. There’s actually more to bottled water than meets the eye.

Environmental Friendliness
Saving energy and being environmentally friendly is all the rage right now. It makes sense, too, because we’re living in a world with limited resources. And we don’t want to use them up too quickly. At home, most of us make a conscious effort to turn off unused lights or to not waste water. But some people take environmental friendliness up a notch. And the projects they create are changing the world as we know it.
Space Junk
Humans are natural travelers. We evolved into modern humans almost 200,000 years ago. In the last 50,000 years we have traveled across the earth and now live almost everywhere except for Antarctica. If environmental problems on earth continue to increase, one day we may need to find a new home in space. Image by: NASA
Earthships – Sustainable Homes of the Future
Have you ever wondered what homes of the future will be like? In our opinion, they will be cheap, environmentally friendly, easy to build, and will use sustainable energy sources. Actually, these types of homes already exist. They are called Earthships.
An Earthship is made from natural and recycled materials like tires, cans, bottles, earth, used wood, and plastic. Also, they are off-the-grid homes, meaning that they do not need to rely on public utilities (like electricity) which is usually generated with fossil fuels or nuclear power. The burning of fossil fuels leads to pollution and global warming, while nuclear power plants can be highly poisonous if they leak.
