A new viral video from Brainbridge shows a futuristic robot transplanting a man’s head onto a new body. BrainBridge is not a real company. The video was created by Hashem Al-Ghaili, a biologist and filmmaker.
His fake video proposes living longer by putting our heads on younger bodies, but this idea has many problems. In the 1970s, a doctor tried to transplant a monkey’s head. The monkey tragically stayed conscious for a few days but did not survive.
Many people think this idea is unethical and immoral. They worry about where the new transplant bodies would come from. Others are intrigued and want to explore the possibilities. Hashem Al-Ghaili says he is talking with investors to make his dream a reality, but for now, the technology is still a long way off.
