Would You Spend Hours Decorating Inside Your Fridge?
go overboard: to do something too much or in an excessive way, more than what is needed
Imagine opening your fridge and seeing flowers, pictures, and fancy dishes next to your food. This is called fridgescaping, a new trend on social media. People are decorating the inside of their refrigerators like a room in their house. They arrange fruits and vegetables neatly and add decorations.
One woman, Lynzi Judish from New York, decorates her fridge with special containers and even puts small statues inside. She uses items like antique dishes and even places asparagus in a vase like a bouquet. Some people think this is fun and creative, but others find it silly and excessive. They believe it’s going overboard to spend so much time on something few people will see. Lynzi even creates themes for her fridge, like turning it into an enchanted forest with edible flowers or decorating it based on historical periods. Lynzi admits it takes a lot of effort, but she enjoys it. She says it helps her eat healthier because she can see all her fresh food.
Rebecca Bingham also enjoys the new fridgescaping trend but recognizes it’s a bit ridiculous. She filled her fridge with candles, vases, and a tiny mirror, so the decorations almost outnumbered the food. She says, “It highlights the absurdity of making something functional look perfect for social media.”
