Astronauts Stuck in Space Go With The Flow
go with the flow: to relax and accept the situation without trying to control or change it
Two astronauts, Butch and Suni, stranded in space, gave a press conference earlier today from the International Space Station. Butch explained that he didn’t feel disappointed to find out they couldn’t go home on schedule. He said their job as astronauts is to deal with challenges. Instead of focusing on what went wrong, they are busy repairing equipment, doing science experiments, and keeping the space station running. Even though they will be waiting until next year for a rescue craft, Sunni is also feeling positive. She said, “This is my happy space. I love being here in space.”
Both astronauts miss their families, but they accept their situation. Butch shared how this is a teaching moment for them to go with the flow. He said, “I think that’s what we both try to instill in our families, to be resilient, to go with whatever the good Lord gives you.”
Butch and Sunni are staying connected to Earth with regular calls to family and friends. Furthermore, they say that being in space won’t stop them from participating in the coming election. They have both requested absentee ballots to vote for president this November.
