Man Survives 3 Days Trapped Underwater
in the nick of time: just before it is too late, or just in time to prevent something bad from happening
Ten years ago, Harrison Okene was on a boat that turned upside down in the sea. The boat went deep under the water. But, by luck, Harrison found a small pocket of air in a bathroom. He sat in the cold dark room with no food or water, wondering how long the air would last.
He thought a lot about his family as he waited in the dark. And then, a light appeared. Divers came to recover bodies from the wreck. To their surprise, they found Harrison alive. They had arrived in the nick of time. After 60 hours, the carbon dioxide buildup would have soon killed him.
Harrison was the only survivor. Surprisingly, he still loves the ocean and has become a commercial diver. He said, “I believe the ocean is my world. I feel more comfortable, relaxed there.”
