Geese Are The New Guardians of Law and Order
keep someone in line: to make someone follow the rules or behave properly
In Brazil, prisons are replacing guard dogs with geese to keep the prisoners in line. These geese are amazing because they can hear very well. If they hear prisoners trying to escape, they make loud noises to tell the guards. This idea has been working so well that it’s been used for more than ten years.
In Brazil, the geese stop people from leaving. In China, they stop people from getting in. Along the border with Vietnam, geese are helping to stop people from entering the country illegally. There are 500 geese working alongside 400 dogs at the very long border. The geese are very alert and can notice sounds that people might not. This helps border guards catch those trying to cross the border without permission.
