The Cat Who Boxes Alligators Every Day
laid back: relaxed and calm, not easily worried or stressed
Dogs have always been celebrated as loyal protectors, but let’s not forget about our feline friends.
Tara was a family cat in California. Her owner described her as laid back and very loving. But one day in 2014, a neighbor’s dog attacked four-year-old Jeremy. It bit his leg and started dragging him across the driveway. Then Tara slammed into the dog at full speed and chased it away. The whole thing was caught on a security camera. The video got over 16 million views in two days.
In Oklahoma, a black cat named Binx proved she was no ordinary pet. One night in 2023, two coyotes attacked the family’s dog, Oakley. The small dog was bleeding badly. But Binx jumped down from a ledge and attacked both coyotes. They ran. Oakley needed stitches, but she kept her leg. She is alive because of a cat.
Then there is Mugsy, a scruffy stray cat who wandered into an alligator swamp in Louisiana. He was gentle with people and loved belly rubs. But he did not like alligators getting too close to his food. So he fought them. Every single day. He would stare an alligator in the eyes, then hit it with both paws like a boxer. One local man said, “I’ve been in the bayou all my life, and I’ve never seen a cat smacking an alligator.”
All three of these fearless cats need to be seen to be believed. See them in action in the videos below.
