Blind Adventurer Climbs Earth’s Highest Mountain
manage to do something: to succeed in doing something that requires effort or skill
Imagine climbing the highest mountain in the world. Now imagine doing it blind. This is the true story of Erik Weihenmayer, an amazing man who lost his sight when he was just 13. Erik made history in 2001 by becoming the first blind person to climb Mount Everest.
Erik didn’t stop there. He went on to climb the highest mountains on every continent. He also kayaked through the Grand Canyon, which is very dangerous even for people who can see. He has also competed in mountain bike competitions and desert races.
Erik says, “I managed to confront my fears” and push them away. He now inspires others to do the same as a motivational speaker and founder of the non-profit No Barriers.
