Women’s Tears Reduces Aggression In Men, Study Reveals
one-way street: a situation or relationship that goes in only one direction and is not returned in the opposite direction
Researchers in Israel have found that smelling women’s tears can make men less aggressive.
Earlier studies found that women’s tears decrease men’s testosterone levels. They also found that tears cause men’s arousal levels to go down.
In this new study, they focused on aggression. The researchers collected tears from female volunteers. Male volunteers were split into two video game-playing groups. One group was given tears to smell. The other group smelled a saltwater solution. The men weren’t told what they were smelling. Those who smelled the tears were 40% less aggressive while playing the video game than those who smelled the salt water.
This effect of women’s tears on men’s aggression might not be a one way street. The researchers want to study if tears can also lower women’s aggression and if smelling a baby’s tears can calm adults down.
