You Won’t Believe This: Watch this Train Cut Through the Middle of a Railway Market
out of the ordinary: something that is different from what is usual or expected
Have you ever shopped on a train track? This is an everyday experience at the Maeklong Railway Market in Thailand. Just over an hour from Bangkok, you’ll find fresh fruits, vegetables, seafood, and more. And yes, it’s built right on the railway tracks.
Eight times a day, a siren sounds, and something incredible happens. Everyone moves fast. Sellers and shoppers grab their goods and clear the way. Why? Because a train is about to pass through! With a gap so narrow the train could almost touch the food, it slowly moves through the market.
Then, just like magic, everything returns to normal once the train leaves. The stalls and covers are put back, and it’s as if nothing out of the ordinary ever happened! Locals call it the “Market Umbrella Pulldown”, a name that will make perfect sense when you watch the video below.
