Runner Disqualified for Smoking During Marathon
put an end to something: to stop or finish something completely
Recently, Uncle Chen, a famous runner from China, was disqualified from the Xiamen Marathon. Why? Because he was smoking while running! This was surprising because Uncle Chen has been known for running and smoking for years. He even finished a marathon in 3 hours and 28 minutes while smoking!
Uncle Chen, 52 years old, has been doing this for a long time. He first caught attention when he smoked during the 2018 Guangzhou Marathon and then again in 2019. Despite this, he’s an impressive runner, completing both marathons and ultramarathons.
However, the recent changes in marathon rules in China, promoting health and safety, have put an end to Chen’s unique approach to running.
