Two Brazilian nuns recently caught the world’s attention with beatboxing and dancing live on Catholic TV. The TV host joined them, and the fun moment quickly spread across social media. Sister Marizele Cassiano later said, “With Sister Marisa, if you start a beat, she will dance. And I’m used to singing, to beatboxing.” Now, Sister Marizele has over 100,000 followers online.
The two nuns help young people with drug problems. They say music helps them reach out to people in need. It gives people hope and makes them feel joy.
In Washington, DC, a group of Dominican friars also uses music in their religious work. They play bluegrass music and call themselves the Hillbilly Thomists. They have released four albums and share their songs on YouTube. Their goal is to reach out to people outside the church and share their faith through music.
