Space Gas Stations Launching in 2026
run out: to use all of something and have no more
A new mission to put a gas station in space will launch in 2026. This mission will help satellites that have run out of fuel. The Southwest Research Institute and a company called Astroscale are building a special small spacecraft. This spacecraft will travel to satellites in space and refuel them. This project, funded by the US Space Force, will extend the lives of satellites and reduce space junk.
In the future, this technology might one day help people travel further into space. Just like cars stop at gas stations to refuel, spacecraft could do the same in orbit. This could allow for longer trips to distant planets.
