Meet the Teen With Hands That Move Even When Detached From Her Body

Tilley Lockey lost both of her arms when she was a baby. Today, she wears bionic hands that are so advanced, they can even move when they are not attached to her body.
These hands were made by a company called Open Bionics. The new model is called the Hero Pro. They are 3D-printed and controlled by muscle sensors. Tilley can open and close the hand by making small movements in her arm. Even when the hand is not connected, it still follows her commands.
Tilley shared her excitement, saying, “I can remove my own hand and have it crawl across a table and back to me.” She also said the hands are stronger and faster than anything she has used before.
Open Bionics have taken prosthetic technology to the next level. Just a few years ago, these tools were slow and limited. Today, they are light, waterproof, and changing lives.
