Man Gets 558 Days in Jail for Talking Back to Judge
talk back: to respond to someone in a rude or disrespectful way, especially when they are in a position of authority
Talking back to a judge is never a wise decision. A man in Michigan learned this the hard way. He will spend over a year in jail because of his rude behavior in court. Darrell Jarrell was in court for trespassing, a crime that would normally only receive a small fine or a simple warning. Things quickly became more serious when he decided to disrespect the judge. In a viral video, Jarrell told the judge to “kiss my a–.”
Judge Simpson gave Jarrell 93 days in jail for being disrespectful, but Jarrell continued to talk back. Every time he did, the judge added an additional 93 days. In the end, Jarrell received 558 days in jail.
This is the 2nd time an online video of Judge Simpson’s court has gone viral. Earlier this year, Corey Harris was attending a court Zoom call for the crime of driving without a license. Judge Simpson was shocked to see Harris attending the online court session while driving. To find out what happened, watch the videos below.
