Meet the Woman Who Lives with 1000 Cats
the last straw: a problem that comes at the end of a series of problem that makes a situation impossible to accept
Imagine living with 1,000 cats! Lynea Lattanzio does just that. In Parlier, California, she has turned her giant house into a shelter for these cats.
Lynea’s love for cats began many years ago. She even sold her expensive car and jewelry to start the shelter.
Over the past 25 years, Lynea has taken care of 28,000 cats. She currently has 45 people working with her. Together, they take care of 800 adult cats and 200 kittens. Five hundred are waiting for adoption. They use over a thousand kilos of food a week, and it’s all self-funded.
She used to share the house with her 1,000 cats, but it wasn’t easy. She says she had cats running over her face in the middle of the night. When one vomited in her ear, it was the last straw. She now lives in a small trailer on the property while her 1,000 cats enjoy their mansion.
