Ambulance Hits Cyclist, Then Sends Him a Bill
to add insult to injury: to make a bad situation even worse
In Oregon, a man was riding his bicycle when an ambulance turned into his path and hit him. The rider, 71-year-old William Hoesch, was cut and bruised. To add insult to injury, the ambulance company sent him a $1,862 bill for taking him to the hospital. Of course, the ambulance ride was only necessary because of the ambulance driver’s mistake.
His lawyer says that Hoesch suffered permanent injuries from the accident, and he has already spent around $47,000 on medical bills. It is expected that he will need to pay an additional $50,000 for future medical treatment. He is now suing the Columbia River Fire and Rescue Department for $1 million. Hoesch hopes to get the help he needs with his medical bills and receive justice.
