Man Runs 365 Marathons in 365 Days
wear out: to use something until it becomes too old or damaged to use anymore
Gary McKee, a man from the UK, did something amazing in 2022. He ran a marathon every day for a whole year. That’s 42 kilometers every single day for 365 days. He did this to raise money for charity.
Gary ran over 9,500 miles in total, which is a lot more than most people drive in a year. He wore out 22 pairs of running shoes and spent close to 1,500 hours running. To keep his energy up, Gary ate around 5,000 calories daily.
Even though he was tired and hurt his leg, Gary embraced the discomfort. He said that it was like a fight between him and the road, and he wanted to win. Gary’s challenge not only raised £1 million for Macmillan Hospice at Home but also demonstrated the power of pushing personal limits and finding strength in helping others.
